I can see why he was voted best acoustic guitarist for 2007 by readers of guitar player magazine. I saw Tom at the Music Mill in Indy, IN and he is a great show, however he does lose me with the banging and head butting mic part. I do wonder if he strings are ultra extra-lights maybe even electric guitar extra-lights because his sound is a bit thin sounding. I would guess hes got the guitar set-up action paper thin close too. Either way, if I was half the player he is, I would quit my day job.

Only fools like him have such insane skills. It's not the Mason Williams version, that's for sure, but he doesn't have an orchestra behind him, and he made an entirely new song from classical gas, made it his own. Nothing wrong with that. Guess it's not "classical" in his interpretation, but that's why thousands of people love it. He's an entertainer, not a classical guitar player.
