OMG I loooveeeeeeee Jazz soo much and in music at school we have to compose music and of course ive chosen to compose for jazz quartet but I dont know where to start and its quite hard for me. anyone can give me advice on how to compose jazz? my instruments are piano, alto sax, bass and drums. thank you.

He went in his appartment on 60 East End Ave NYC and John got playing on his harpsichord : outstanding
He wrote a piece "Le Cannet" ( city adjacent to Cannes ) and this piece is on "This One for Basie " CD

Well, start listening with an open mind to the 'founding fathers' of jazz: Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong (West End Blues), Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington (Black And Tan Fantasy, Mood Indigo, Solitude), Coleman Hawkins (Body And Soul), Benny Goodman Sextet (Rose Room), Oscar Peterson, Modern Jazz Quartet (Django, Fontessa), Miles Davis (Walkin'), Scott Hamilton. Just what pops up in my mind... listen to it ten times again and let its beauty arise.
